Following on from our reflection on “listening” we are invited to engage more deeply in listening to each other as we seek to extend and develop the enduring Good Shepherd Story.
“I believe we can change the world if we start listening to one another again. Simple, honest, human conversation. Not mediation, negotiation, problem-solving, debate or public meetings. Simple, truthful conversation where we each have a chance to speak, we each feel heard, and we each listen well… We need each other’s help to become better listeners.”
Margaret Wheatley, author and international speaker.
“To listen is to continually give up all expectation and to give our attention, completely and freshly, to what is before us, not really knowing what we will hear or what that will mean. …to listen is to lean in, softly, with a willingness to be changed by what we hear.”
Mark Nepo, poet and philosopher.

What if we were to listen to each other’s comments with a willingness to expose rather than to confirm our own beliefs and opinions?
What if we were to willingly listen to one another with the awareness that we each see the world in unique way?
What might I learn if I listen for differences rather than similarities?
