Report of 2nd Chapter Planning Committee-15th April

REPORT of 2nd CHAPTER PLANNING COMMITTEE (15/04/11)

Context: The Provincial Chapter is primarily about identifying future priorities based on a clear articulation and deep understanding of present mission realities.

This requires:

  • Deep communal listening to what is happening now among Sisters & GSANZ
  • Continuing collaboration within & outside the Province
  • Articulation of how GS charism is lived & witnessed in present times
  • Discernment of future priorities
  • Vision for the way forward
  • Discernment of future leadership

1. The Chapter Process in underway with the launch of Chapter Web-site, Chapter E-Bulletins, Reflection Sheets and encouragement to engage in the conversation.

2. Five Regional Chapters (Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane & Perth) will be the opportunity to:

  • Collectively respond to Direction of 2009 Congregational Chapter
  • Reflect on & evaluate the GSANZ network & structures
  • Hold free & open conversations about how we want to be together
  • Remember the journey that has brought us to this point – depthing what we already have and sharing riches of spirituality
  • Recognize that our resilience lies in co-responsibility, carrying each other forward, carrying the story forward
  • Explore future possibilities for participation & co-responsibility
  • Understand that we are part of a change process and that there will not be immediate answers to every question
  • Know that issues/themes we deem important will be discussed in other forums if not able to be accommodated at our Regional & Provincial Chapters

Outcomes we seek from the Regional Chapters are:

  1. Deeper connections through reflections & conversations around the enduring story
  2. Broader understanding of expressions of charism and collaboration into the future
  3. Refining of priorities & matters for the Provincial Chapter
