The '16 Days' Campaign

November 25 is the start of the UN-declared 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign. The campaign looks at the different forms of violence that women face. It also aims to show the link between violence against women and human rights. That’s why we link the International Day Against Violence Against Women on November 25 to International Human Rights Day on December 10 – 16 days.

This year’s theme is Structures of Violence: Defining the Intersections of Militarism and Violence Against Women because there is a strong belief that militarism leads toviolence against women; not only in war zones but also in places where there is military activity – even close to home
