‘A Good Shepherd Meeting Acknowledgement .
I’d like to begin by acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land we’re meeting on,
acknowledge our gratitude that we share this land today, our sorrow for the costs of that sharing,
and our hope that we can move to a place of justice and partnership together.
Reconciliation Week begins on 27 May, the date of the 1967 Commonwealth Government Referendum which acknowledged the rightful place of Indigenous people in the Australian population, and ends on 3 June, the anniversary of the historic Mabo decision of the High Court of Australia, recognising the pre-existence of native title to land in Australia.
